Margo McDonnell is president of 1031 CORP., a qualified intermediary specializing in the facilitation of 1031 like-kind exchanges headquartered in Collegeville, PA with team members across the country. She is a Certified Exchange Specialist® and in 2016, was invited to become a member of The Counselors of Real Estate. Since 1994, Margo has been involved in thousands of 1031 exchanges of various size and complexity, including reverse and improvement exchanges. She is a frequent author and presenter on tax deferred exchanges, their many benefits and the requirements of a successful exchange.
Margo’s extensive work on behalf of the 1031 exchange industry includes spearheading efforts to launch a national certification and continuing education program for exchange practitioners and serving as founding chair of the Certified Exchange Specialist® (CES®) Certification Council of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA), the national trade association for exchange practitioners. She also served on the FEA Board of Directors for nearly two decades. She is also a past president of the FEA and current member of the Government Affairs Committee. In 2003, she was presented with the first ever FEA President’s Award and in 2008, she was honored with “The Margo McDonnell Certified Exchange Specialist® Perpetual Award for Outstanding Service” by the CES® Certification Council.
Margo serves as the affiliate director for Tri-County Suburban REALTORS® based in Malvern, PA. She earned her MBA from Villanova University.
