This session features Bill Dedman, one of the lead reporters on Newsday’s award winning 2019 undercover investigation, Long Island Divided. This investigation revealed how Long Island, New York’s dominant residential real estate brokerages helped reinforce racial segregation through illegal steering of customers. Bill will take us through a guided tour inside the investigation that has prompted investigations by federal and state authorities across the country. It has also led to changes at the National Association of Realtors® that include anti-bias training for agents and developing an interactive training simulation to help agents identify and confront discrimination in home homebuying.
